Normal Heights Community Hub
Connecting needs & resources – from neighbor, to neighbor – for over a century!
who we are
The Normal Heights Community Hub is a regional center that provides access to local resources to those in need. We are committed to improving life in Normal Heights by connecting needs and resources in the community, particularly in the areas of food insecurity, housing, community life, and justice-focused education.
We’ve partnered with San Diego Fridge Projects to host a Community Fridge in front of the Normal Heights United church building. The fridge operates on a system of “take-what-you-need, leave-what-you-can”. We are so excited for this partnership and to use this fridge to continue to provide necessary resources to neighbors in need!
We also anticipate starting up Community Dinners, in replacement of our pre-COVID Pancake Breakfasts, to provide community meals to those who may not have the resources to feed themselves towards the end of the month.
housing for all
We believe housing is a basic human right. Since San Diego has an acute housing crisis, our goal is to help connect our unhoused neighbors to resources and organizations that provide secure housing.
We have also been using our building as a shelter for asylum-seeker through the Safe Harbor shelter network for two years!
Through partnerships with the Adams Avenue Business Association and San Diego Unified School District, we have been proud to sponsor and host community events in Normal Heights for decades! These include the Adams Avenue Street Fair, Art Around Adams, and Adams Avenue Unplugged!
Together as a community, we invest in learning – to know better, so that we might do better. We do this through hosting monthly seminars and book clubs that cultivate a spirit of continual learning!

Normal Heights United Methodist Church is a progressive, inclusive, and growing church right off Adams Avenue in the heart of Normal Heights, and we’ve been in the middle of this neighborhood for over 100 years. We see ourselves as a neighborhood church that has been placed here to strengthen community, care for our neighbors and help all in need. We’ve got a proven track record of connecting neighbors with local officials, providing meals, assisting chronically unhoused folks to find housing, and decades-long partnerships with local community groups, schools, and events!
