May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Published: 05/31/2025

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we’re excited to highlight some of the awesome things that the Methodist Church has said about mental health, as well as some resources if you’re seeking a little extra support in that area!

Resources:

  • Need help finding a therapist? We have a curated list of therapists we refer to and would be happy to help you find someone who would be a good fit for you! These folks are already vetted, are LGBTQ+ affirming, and have a range of options for payment, including some who take insurance, and others who offer sliding scale rates. Reach out to Pastor Molly if you want help finding someone!
  • Free Call/Text Lines: If you’re in a spot where you could use immediate support, there are so many options available to you! Folks through many organizations are waiting and ready to provide supportive, safe space for whatever you’re dealing with. Some of those include:
    • California Warm Line: The CA Warm Line provides peer-led, non-coercive, and stigma-reducing support that addresses a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, and substance use. Call or text 855-600-WARM (9276) to speak with a counselor 24/7.
    • 988 Lifeline: At the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, we understand that life’s challenges can sometimes be difficult. Whether you’re facing mental health struggles, emotional distress, alcohol or drug use concerns, or just need someone to talk to, our caring counselors are here for you. You are not alone. Just call 988 to be connected with a counselor 24/7.
    • The Trevor Project: The Trevor Project is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ+ young people. We provide information & support to LGBTQ+ young people 24/7, all year round.
    • National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI): The NAMI San Diego Helpline (1-800-523-5933) is answered by volunteers and Peer/Family Support Specialists who can help you get connected to support groups, classes, and resources.
    • The San Diego Access and Crisis Line: The San Diego Access and Crisis Line (1-888-724-7240) offers free, confidential counseling and community resources to support your mental health. This resource is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and in multiple languages. A live chat service is also available Monday – Friday, 4pm-10pm.
