New song added to worship this Pride Season

Published: 06/04/2026

Hello everyone!

Throughout our Pride season, from now through San Diego’s Pride Festival weekend 🏳️‍🌈 (July 18 & 19), we’ll be singing a new song together in our worship services: “Testify to Love.”

Originally recorded by Avalon as a song celebrating God’s love, it later became connected to a more complicated story when band member Michael Passons was removed from the band after coming out as gay. Years later, the group revisited that history and re-recorded the song, affirming the message at its heart: God’s love is for everyone, without exceptions.

This Pride season, we’re excited to share this song as an anthem of welcome, belonging, and love. We invite you to listen to the song and read this touching articlewritten by Mellisa Greene, another original band member who reunited her friendship with Michael (and then some!) after regretting her and the band’s decision.

With love,
Sam
