Something’s Happening in Our Alley…

Published: 10/21/2024

If you’ve driven down our alley recently you may have noticed something happening…the beginnings of a mural on the far building (Global Vision Academy)! This is part of a larger project through an organization called Alleys in Action. This group identifies alleys in San Diego that are underutilized, especially in areas where public park space is scarce, as it is in Normal Heights. Then, they get to work imagining new ways for those spaces to become usable to the neighborhood.

A couple of months ago, this project was begun in our alley, and the mural that has started on the Global Vision Academy building is going to extend all the way down to the church building. Here’s where you come in: the muralist is asking for our input of figures we would want painted on the mural. In particular, we are looking for justice advocates that we look up to, both locally and beyond. If you have a person you would like to submit for consideration on the mural, fill out this quick form to let us know! Not all suggestions will be able to be used, but we hope you’ll participate nonetheless.
