We are deeply grieved and horrified at the news of the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego today that left at least three dead and many traumatized.
No one of any faith should ever feel unsafe in their place of worship. We condemn this violence, and the hate-filled rhetoric about our Muslim siblings that causes it to occur. We join with countless voices saying that islamophobia has no place in San Diego.
We are praying for the safety and healing of all those affected.
if you want to support, you can donate to the ICSD Victim & Family Support Fund (the link is in our bio). We’re also joining with other faith communities to participate in Wear Orange Sunday on June 7th as a visible act of prayer, remembrance, and hope for an end to gun violence.
We’ll continue to share more ways you can support those affected as we hear of them.
And always, we pray.
Ok, we’re starting out a new weekly post where we do a recap of all the announcements we made in worship on Sunday morning. This week we have Sexuality & Spiritual on Tuesday, Queer Small Group Thursday night and Sack Lunch Sunday next weekend. Just added to the calendar: a new date for the Young Adult Thrifting, a new concert called “Mystic Hymnal” and a Kids Ministry Family get-together for Ice Cream and Swimming (RSVP online). That’s just the cliff notes, for all the details and a few other events we didn’t include in this update, go to our website calendar.

Tonight marks the return of our monthly casual discussion group here at NHUnited, called "Faith on Tap!" This month`s topic is the Bible...how do we use it and what in the world does it mean? It was a bummer that vandalism prevented the Community Fridge from being a 24/7 resource for everyone who needs it for the past week. Well, we’re happy to say that new parts arrived and the door is back on! Our big friend is back to chilling on the sidewalk again, ready to help anyone in need and anyone ready to share some love!💕
THIS FRIDAY FROM 6:30-8PM IN THE SANCTUARY
To say that activism takes energy is an understatement. It takes emotional energy, physical energy, mental energy, and even spiritual energy. To stay hopeful as you work against systems that dehumanize people is a challenge. So if you’ve been feeling your energy drain as you work for your neighbor to build a better world, we’ve put together an evening for you. Come and find rest for your body, mind, and soul so that you find the energy you need to keep going. This event is open to everyone of all spiritual backgrounds, so invite your friends, colleagues, and neighbors! (link in bio)
